Parish Outreach: COVID-19 has made parish outreach challenging, yet even more people are suffering from isolation and loneliness, and lack of spiritual, psychological and practical support (food and other needs). As the pandemic drags on, we are called as a parish to reach out again to those who are suffering. Please let the office know of anyone (they do not have to be Catholic) who could benefit from some support – whether a periodic phone call, prayer, sacraments, visit, practical help – or invite them to call us. And please let the office know if you are willing to help in the outreach effort, either by phoning or visiting. Thank you.
Regular Mass schedule: Daily Mass in English is Monday to Friday at 8 am and Saturday at 9 am. There is no Novena Mass at this time. Weekday Mass in Vietnamese is Tuesday to Thursday at 11:30 am and Friday at 7 pm.
Anticipated Masses: Saturday at 5 pm (English) and 7:00 pm (Vietnamese) Sunday Masses: 11:30 am and 6 pm (English) and 9:30 am and 3:30 pm (Vietnamese). Please spread the word!
Pre-registration is required for Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday Masses, to remain below government limits (50 in church / 20 in basement). Deadline is noon Friday. Masses may fill up earlier. Please read the information letter and register online, or phone the parish office for a place. The parish must observe attendance limits and keep records of everyone present at every Mass. This is for your safety in case of virus exposure.
PLEASE NOTE: If you arrive late you may lose your place. Regrettably we too often have “no shows” and fill these vacancies when Mass starts. Once the limit inside is reached, admission of additional people, even if registered, is not permitted. If you registered, please arrive in good time. Please do not enter if the Mass is already at capacity. Thank you for helping with this process.
Livestreamed Masses continue in English at 11:30 am Sunday, and all Vietnamese Masses from Friday through Sunday. Rosary in Vietnamese at 6:30 pm Saturday. To more fully participate in English Sunday Mass, please download texts of readings and hymns on our parish website
Stay in Touch: We welcome emails or phone calls to the parish office (604-876-7826 / [email protected]) if you have suggestions or need assistance. Please keep your contact information (address, phone, email) up to date.
Church is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (except 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after Masses); Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 – 2:30 pm. Hand sanitizer, extra cleaning of the pews, and marking guides to ensure distancing are in use.
Confession: 15 mins before every Mass during weekday and weekend. Please let each Mass coordinator or a priest that day know that you would like to confess.
Recovering Together National Collection: Sunday October 11. This collection replaces the annual Share Lent collection, which was postponed when churches closed due to COVID.
Thank you for supporting the parish. To donate online (one-time or regularly) go to www.rcav.org/sunday-offering and select St. Joseph, Van Offering.
