REFLECTION ON THE READINGS
HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH
“O God, who were pleased to give us the shining example of the Holy Family, graciously grant that we may imitate them in practicing the virtues of family life in the bonds of charity, and so, in the joy of your house, delight one day in eternal rewards.
- First Reading Sirach 3.2-6, 12-14
Do I need to work on my relationships with my mother and father? Do children help me appreciate trials and joys of parenting? Am I ready for new challenges with aging?
Psalm 128: “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.”
- Second Reading Colossians 3.12-21
Is my family centered on Christ? Are peace, love and fruits of the Holy Spirit visibly present? Could we show each other more love and respect?
Alleluia! “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts and the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
- Gospel Reading Matthew 2.13-15, 19-23
What did God ask Joseph to do for his family? Did Joseph know where they would end up? How has God been guiding my family through the dangers and trials of life?
