  1. First Reading Amos 6.1a, 4-7

Do I live a life of luxury and ease? Is that my dream? For now, am I working for a more comfortable and secure life? How secure were the Israelites who lived in comfort? Am I seeking security in the right way?

Psalm 113: “Praise the Lord, O my soul!”

  1. Second Reading 1 Timothy 6.11-16

How are we called to live as women and men of God? Have I taken up the “good fight of the faith” entrusted to me in Baptism and Confirmation? Am I faithful to the command-ments? Am I ready to meet Christ our Lord?

Alleluia! “Though Jesus Christ was rich, yet he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.”

  1. Gospel Reading Luke 16.19-31

How often do I notice the poor ones at my gate? Do I know them by name? Do I know their needs? How do I respond? Why? How might my love and care for God’s beloved who are in need look to God? Could our parish better witness Christ’s love?
