First Reading: Proverbs 9.1-6

Proverbs tells us that Wisdom says: “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the way of insight.” What were the most memorable moments or insights on my journey of faith so far? What difficulties do I have now? What do I have to lay aside?

Psalm 34: Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Second Reading: Ephesians 5.15-20
Which of my indulgences, behaviours and choices rank higher and lower on the wisdom scale? How do I try to avoid being influenced by evil, and “make the most of the time”, to seek God’s will and give thanks for everything?

“Alleluia! Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in them, says the Lord.” Alleluia.”

Gospel: John 6.51-58

“How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” How do I explain that Jesus’ teaching is not cannibalism? What insights might help others understand the importance of Christ’s gift of the Eucharist, and encourage them to strive for deeper understanding and full participation in the Mass?
