1. First Reading Revelation 11.19a; 12.1-6a, 10ab

This reading points to the cosmic significance of Blessed Virgin Mary’s “Yes” to God. How does this apocalyptic imagery relate to the life of Mary and her Son? In a broader context, what does it tell of God’s plan for his people, especially his Bride, the Church? What aspects resonate with my personal journey?

Psalm 45: “At your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.”

2. Second Reading 1 Corinthians 15.20-26

In the Glorious mysteries of the Rosary, and in this reading, the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ come before the Assumption of Mary. What does the emphasis on “each in his own order” tell us about the Blessed Virgin Mary? What is my hope for life with Christ? What am I doing to “belong to Christ”?

Alleluia! Mary is taken up to heaven; the hosts of Angels shout for joy.”

3. Gospel Reading Luke 1.39-56

Did Mary appreciate the consequences of her reply to the Angel: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done to me according to your word”? What might she have been thinking when she went to visit Elizabeth? What stands out for me in the loving and faith-filled interaction between Elizabeth and Mary? How does the beautiful Magnificat speak to my current life situation? What do I most treasure about the dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary?
