First Reading: Isaiah 50.5-9

Who are my adversaries and critics? How do I deal with conflict, shame and obstacles in my life? How has my relationship with God been shaped through such challenges, and what have I learned?

Psalm 116: “I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.”

Second Reading: James 2.14-18

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you?” What are my main “works”? How is my engagement in them related to my faith? As I grow closer to Christ, where am I being guided to reach out in faith and love?

“Alleluia! May I never boast of anything except the Cross of the Lord, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Alleluia.”

Gospel: Mark 8.27-35

How do I respond to Jesus’ challenge: “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered without understanding what it meant for Jesus or for himself. What are the implications of my faith in Jesus, the Christ? How courageously have I ventured on the path of discipleship, and how is it playing out in my life?
