First Reading: Isaiah 53.10-11

What does this description of the suffering servant bring to mind? How am I called to act and what are my prayers?

Psalm 33: “Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Let your love be upon us, Lord, even as we hope in you.”

Second Reading: Hebrews 4.14-16

What aspects of Jesus’ life on earth do I reflect on when I am struggling with temptation or suffering? What other role models do I turn to, and why? How else does faith support me through challenges?

“Alleluia! The Son of Man came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Alleluia.”

Gospel: Mark 10.35-45

“’Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.’” Jesus answered, “’What is it you want me to do for you?’” What prayer-dialogue do I typically have with Jesus? How can I offer myself more fully as a servant? How am I called to follow Jesus in sacrifice and suffering?
