REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading - Exodus 17.8-13

When has my persistent prayer for others helped them win the battle? How have other individuals, prayer partners or prayer groups helped me through their intercessions? How would I explain, from my experience, the interaction of prayer and God’s power?

Psalm 121: “Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth”

2. Second Reading 2 Timothy 3.14-4.2

“Beloved: Continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” What influences and choices in my life have turned me away from faith in Christ, or towards him? How diligent have I been in seeking deeper understanding of childhood teachings? How diligent have I been in proclaiming and explaining the message?

“Alleluia! The world of God is living and active; it judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

3. Gospel Reading – Luke 18.1-8

What are my most fervent prayers to God these days? What cries for justice seem to need more prayer power? Why does Jesus call our attention to faith? What does his challenge ask of us, right now?

*This year, for the Feast of the Holy Family, our parish is planning to celebrate a special Mass in honor of married couples in our parish.  Married couples who are celebrating milestone anniversaries of 25, 50, 60 and 70 years are invited to attend and receive a special blessing during this Mass.  Please contact the parish office for more information and to register for this Mass.  The deadline to register is Monday, October 31st.

*Our Parish is always looking for volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talents in various areas such as:  sacristans, readers, altar servers, choir members, gift bearers, parking lot attendants and so much more.
