REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading - Isaiah 62.1-5

How might God see his people and all creation today? Where on the spectrum between “Forsaken and Desolate” and “a crown of beauty”/ “a royal diadem”? What name is God giving to his land? How has God been active through history to wed his people to him? How has he been present through the generations of my family, and in my life?

Psalm 96: “Declare the marvelous works of the Lord among all the peoples.”

2. Second Reading -1 Corinthians 12.4-11

What gifts has the Spirit given to me? Have different gifts been activated at different phases of my life? How do my activities and service commitments align with these gifts? Am I over- or under-committed?  How can we bring our gifts together in the parish to serve the common good?

“Alleluia! God has called us through the good news, that we may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

3. Gospel Reading - John 2.1-12

Why did Jesus perform the miracle at Cana? If I had been a guest or disciple at the wedding, what effect would his miracle have had on me? What does the story mean for me now, in my current stage of faith? How do I take Mother Mary’s guidance to heart?
