REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading Acts 5.12-16

Many came to believe in the Lord through the apostles’ testimony and miracles. They esteemed the apostles but did not dare join them. As time passed, what happened to the initial apostolic fervour that inspired faith and growth of the Church? How does the Church today compare to apostolic times? How do I participate as a believer in Christ? If believers dared to be mentored as apostles, what might happen?

Psalm 118: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever.”

2. Second Reading - Revelation 1.9-11a, 12-13, 17-19

John patiently kept close to the Lord through trials and kingdom moments. What has my journey of faith been like? What sustains my relationship to Christ? When have I been especially aware of God’s guidance and call? What is God asking of me now?

“Alleluia! You believed, Thomas, because you have seen me; blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe.

3. Gospel Reading - John 20.19-31

What holds me back from belief in Christ and his Church? What do I need from the Lord to accept him as our Risen Savior, to go where he sends me and to do his work? What do all the people who have not seen him need, to unlock the doors of fear and find joy in his gifts of peace and forgiveness?
