First Reading: Genesis 12.1-14

When has God called me to new challenges and new undertakings in life and in my spiritual journey? How did I recognize and respond to God’s call? What did those experiences teach me about God and his promises, and about faith?

Psalm 51: “Have mercy, O Lord, for we have sinned.”

Second Reading: 2 Timothy 1.8b-10

How do I feel about suffering, especially about “suffering for the Gospel”? What challenges have I faced when it was difficult to accept God’s will? How has the grace of Christ been active in my life, in those or other circumstances?

Praise to you, Lord, king of eternal glory! Man does not live by bread alone, but every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Gospel: Matthew 4.1-11

How did the Transfiguration affect the three apostles? Why might Jesus have wanted them to experience it with him then? What profound experiences of God has God given me? How did they affect my relationship to God, my faith and my Christian life?
