REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading Genesis 15.5-12,17-18

“O Lord God, how am I to know…?” How am I to know what God is promising me? And if I think I have heard his voice, how am I to know it is the Lord? How am I to know it is true? When have I been sure of God’s promise to me? How did it come to pass?

Psalm 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation. ‘Come,’ my heart says, ‘seek his face!’”

2. Second Reading - Philippians 3.17-4.1

Have I lived as “an enemy of the Cross of Christ”? How does Christ “transform the body of our humiliation” to “[conform it] to the body of his glory”? What does this process look like in real life, and what helps it along?

Glory and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! From the bright cloud the Father’s voice is heard: This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him.”

3. Gospel Reading - Luke 9.28b-36

How do I most often picture Jesus? The disciples saw Jesus every day, walking miles through the dust and preaching. What effect did the Transfiguration have on them? How does it enhance my Lenten journey with Christ?

ARCHDIOCESAN NEWS

Awake from Woke 2

Woke ideology has been very successful in coopting the unwitting support of many well-intentioned people in a project which most of us would disagree with if we were aware of it. It is very important that we understand that the Woke mantras of “Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity” as well as “Social Justice” do not mean what we think they mean.
