17/11 Sunday: 33rd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME [1] Daniel 12.1-3 [2] Hebrews 10.11-14, 18 [Gospel] Mark 13.24-32

First Reading: 1 Kings 17.10-16

What would I do if a stranger asked me for food when I was starving and preparing the last of it for my family? When have I had to place all my trust in God’s help, and what happened? With whom is God prompting me to share at this time?

Psalm 146: “It is the Lord who keeps faith forever, who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. Praise the Lord, O my soul!”

Second Reading: Hebrews 9.24-28

How does this text from Hebrews help me understand the mystery of salvation through Christ and his offering for our sins? How does our sharing in his offering of the Mass differ from the offerings of the high priests of old?

“Alleluia! Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!” Alleluia.”

Gospel: Mark 12.38-44

What comes to mind as I listen to Jesus’ teaching in this Gospel? What judgements do I make about people at church, based on their appearances, giving or other actions? What hypocrisy should I correct in myself? What is God asking me to give?
