********

“The Lord anointed my eyes: I went, I washed, I saw and I believed in God.”

First Reading: 1 Samuel 16.1b, 6-7, 10-13

“…the Lord does not see as the human sees; the human looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” When have I deceived, or been deceived, by outward appearance? When have I chosen something obvious, without asking God’s guidance? Lord, help me to see and to walk in your way.

Psalm 51: “Have mercy, O Lord, for we have sinned.”

Second Reading: Ephesians 5.8-13

How can I live as a child of the light? How should I deal with inclinations that quench God’s light or enclose me in a tomb? Who else may need help to “rise from the dead”, that Christ may shine on them?

Praise to you, Lord, king of eternal glory! I am the light of the world, say the Lord; whoever follows me will have the light of life.”

Gospel: John 9.1-41

What areas of blindness have I discovered in myself? How was the blindness revealed, and how did “seeing” change my life or relationships? What help do I need from Jesus for my faith? What help do I need for my sin?

Seminarian Prayer Calendar

This Lenten season, the Vocations Office asks that you consider keeping our seminarians in your prayers. The Seminarian Prayer Calendar assigns a day to pray for each of our seminarians. We thank God for them and pray that they may become strong Christian men who are faithful to prayer, diligent in their studies, open to spiritual direction, and docile to all aspects of seminary formation.
