First Reading: Acts 14.21b-27

No Christian could be passive in a time of persecution. How does the Church of today compare to the Church in St. Paul’s time? Who are “the Gentiles” now, who need missionary disciples to open the door of faith? How are disciples like us, in established Church communities, strengthened in our faith? How is God inviting me to serve as his disciple and share in the joy of his work?

Psalm 145: “I will bless your name for ever, my King and my God.”

Second Reading: Revelation 21.1-5a

God plans to be with his people. “See, I am making all things new.” How have I experienced God’s new life in my journey of faith? While awaiting the fullness of the new heaven and new earth, what do I pray may be renewed?

“Alleluia! I give you a new commandment: love one another just as I have loved you.”

Gospel: John 13.1, 31-33a, 34-35

What is my most cherished teaching of Jesus? How do I live Jesus’ new commandment of love? When has our love for each other helped people see the face of Jesus and be attracted to discipleship?
