5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Isaiah 6.1-2a, 3-8
How does my own human frailty and interconnectedness with other human beings affect the way I approach God? After Isaiah’s conversion experience, he was sent. What were my most memorable encounters with God, and what effect did they have?
Psalm 138: “I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the Angels I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple; and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and faithfulness.”
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15.1-11
What are the core elements of the good news of faith that was handed on to me? To whom am I passing it on? How do grace and effort assist me in handing on the truths of faith authentically?
“Alleluia! Come follow me, says the Lord, and I will make you fishers of people.” Alleluia.”
Gospel: Luke 5.1-11
After a whole night fishing, Simon let Jesus teach from his boat, but Jesus expected more. What moved Simon from being a friend and helper to become Jesus’ disciple? How can I grow in discipleship?
