REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading Acts 14.21b-27

The apostles took care that the orientation of all aspects of their mission and of the new Christian communities, would be towards God. What are some similarities and differences between the early Church as described in Acts, and the Church of today? What features of the apostolic Church might invigorate our parish community?

Psalm 145: “I will bless your name for ever, my King and my God.”

2. Second Reading - Revelation 21.1-5a

“See, the home of God is among humans…” “See, I am making all things new.” How is John’s vision already a reality for believers? In what ways is God’s promise still to be fulfilled? What is required of ourselves and of all humans, for its fulfilment??

“Alleluia! I give you the new commandment: love one another just as I have loved you.

3. Gospel Reading - John 13.1, 31-33a, 34-35

When have I been aware of the glory of God in my daily life? How was it apparent? When have I been struck by someone’s love for another person? What effect did these experiences have on me and on my faith and spiritual life? In today’s world, by what will others come to know Christ and to recognize his disciples?
