REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading Jeremiah 17.5-8

How would I describe my trust in God during the prolonged pandemic time? How does the imagery of this text from Jeremiah relate to my experience of trusting in myself and/or other people, versus trusting in God? What are some warning signs of drifting away from trust in God, and what helps me re-center in him?

Psalm 1: “Blessed the one who trusts in the Lord”

2. Second Reading - 1 Corinthians 15.12, 16-20

What do I believe about Christ and his resurrection? How do those beliefs affect my thoughts and preparation for death and my personal hope for eternal life? What do my reactions at the deaths of loved ones reveal about the strength of my faith?

“Alleluia! Rejoice and leap for joy; for surely your reward is great in heaven.”

3. Gospel Reading - Luke 6.17, 20-26

What caught my attention in this Gospel today: one or more of the Beatitudes or woes? What is Jesus’ message to me through the Holy Spirit? How should I respond?

Share Lent 2022 Workshops: "People and Planet First"

The effects of climate change have hit home and what are we, as citizens of BC and Canada, going to do about it? Let's take time to meditate on the inherent relationship between God, the environment, and its peoples. Let's show our solidarity as citizens of the world and children of God, by refusing to regard our Common Home solely as a resource to be exploited. The workshop is offered on Zoom on Saturdays in February: February 19, and February 26 at 11:00 a.m. Learn more and register at beholdvancouver.org/events.

* Into the Deep: Man does not live on Bread AloneAs disciples we are following Jesus through the 40 days of Lent and these words of the Master stand out: Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. This launches us into the deep to discover the riches that await us if we enter Lent following Jesus, viewing Jesus, listening to Jesus and imitating Jesus (according to our state in life). Friday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. Learn more and register at beholdvancouver.org/events.
