THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

“Men of Galilee, why gaze in wonder at the heavens? This Jesus whom you saw ascending into heaven will return as you saw him go, alleluia.”

First Reading: Deuteronomy 4.32-34, 39-40

“Has anything so great as this ever happened or has its like ever been heard of?” What do I find so astounding, that it fills me with awe and wonder before the presence of God and his works? What has helped me to believe in God? What motivates me to keep his commandments?

Psalm 33: “Blessed the people the Lord has chosen as his heritage.”

Second Reading: Romans 8.14-17

St. Paul discusses the Ascension and Jesus’ parting gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church. If Jesus had not ascended to heaven, how might our faith look different? Why is the Ascension important for me, and how does it affect how I live my faith?

Alleluia! Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Alleluia.”

Gospel: Matthew 28.16-20

How do I follow Jesus’ exhortation to proclaim the good news to all creation? Why does Jesus consider it important? What holds me back? What helps to increase my trust in the Lord, as he encourages me out of my comfort zone into more dynamic discipleship?
