PENTECOST SUNDAY
“The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit of God dwelling within us, alleluia.”
First Reading: Acts 2.1-11
How did people recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost? When have I noticed the Spirit’s action with amazement or astonishment? What do I pray this Pentecost, so that more people may come to know God?
Psalm 104: “Lord, send forth your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12.3b-7, 12-13 / Romans 8.8-17
The Holy Spirit unites us as one body, one family in Christ, gracing each of us with different gifts for the good of all. What gifts of the Holy Spirit do I use for God’s kingdom? How else is the Spirit leading me?
“Alleluia! Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.”
Gospel: John 20.19-23 / John 14.15-16, 23b-26
Forgiveness of sins and teaching authority are gifts of the Holy Spirit to the apostles and the Church. What must we do to ensure the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit? How have the Spirit’s gifts to the Church, and to me personally, contributed to my current faith life?
