“The Lord is truly risen, alleluia. To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity, alleluia, alleluia!”
First Reading: Acts 10.34a, 37-43
What do I tell people about Jesus and our beliefs? How do I share my experience of knowing Jesus and the effect on my life?
Psalm 118: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 5.6b-8 / Colossians 3.1-4
New life in Christ means dying to old ways and rising to “hidden life” in Christ, becoming “unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”. What old yeast lingers, impeding that transition? Where is my mind set now that Christ, our life, is risen?
“Alleluia! Christ, our Paschal Lamb, has been sacrificed; let us feast with joy in the Lord.”
Gospel: John 20.1-18/ Luke 24.13-35
Easter Sunday… the tomb is open and Jesus is not there! How would I react in that moment? Fearful? Doubtful? Confident in the truth of Scripture? Anguished at my beloved’s death and missing body? Disillusioned like the disciples going to Emmaus? How has Jesus restored me, as he did for Mary and the disciples? How will I draw others to see the Lord: through personal encounter, scripture, sacraments…?
