REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

1. First Reading - Jeremiah 1.4 – 5, 17 - 19

What mission did God give to Jeremiah? How did God enable him to do that work? What mission has God had in mind for me since before I was born? How has it progressed, and how is God enabling me?

Psalm 71: “For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. Upon you I have leaned from my birth; from my mother’s womb you have been my strength. My mouth will tell, O Lord, of your deeds of salvation.”

2. Second Reading - 1 Corinthians 12. 31 – 13.13

How much of my daily activity is centered in love? What is the balance between faith, hope and love in my relationships with God and others? When do I find it difficult to love as St. Paul describes? How has God been drawing me towards the fullness of life and love?

“Alleluia! The Lord sent me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives.”

3. Gospel Reading - Luke 4.21 - 30

What kind of welcome do I give to Jesus? What amazes me about him? What do I find most challenging? How can I help people who have rejected Jesus come to know him?
