First Reading: Jeremiah 20.10-13

Jeremiah struggled to endure the persecution he faced as God’s prophet. When and how has God helped me through times of being bad-mouthed by others or persecuted? How did the experience(s) affect me and my relationship with God?

Psalm 69: “Lord, in your steadfast love, answer me. It is zeal for your house that has consumed me; the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”

Second Reading: Romans 5.15-15

St. Paul reflects on the existence and significance of sin and death before God gave Moses the Law. How does his analysis apply to our time, as society drifts away from longstanding foundations in God’s law? What difference can we make as Christians, knowing the gift of grace through Jesus Christ?

“Alleluia. The Spirit of truth will testify on my behalf, says the Lord, and you also are testify. Alleluia.”

Gospel: Matthew 10.26-33

“Fear no one; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known.” When have I been seriously challenged by this instruction? What happened? What aspects of my life am I hiding? How can I start to open up in the supportive freedom of God’s gracious light?
