By baptism we share in the common priesthood of Christ. What guidance do I take from the prophet’s corrections to the priests, as I practice my faith and share it with others? How can we sustain our ordained priests in serving in their ministry with holiness?

Psalm 131: “In you, Lord, I have found my peace.”

Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 2.7-9, 13

When I reflect on the various relationships in my life: at home, at work, in other settings – how do they compare to St. Paul’s description of his interactions with the Thessalonians? For what fruits do I give thanks to God?

“Alleluia! You have one Father, your Father in heaven; you have one teacher, the Lord Jesus Christ!” Alleluia”

Gospel: Matthew 23.1-12

“Do what the Pharisees teach but not what they do.” How has my faith life been affected by contradictions between Church teaching and examples of Catholics, whether priests and religious, teachers or others?
