First Reading: Wisdom 6.12-16

When have I recently longed for wisdom, to find my way through a challenging problem or circumstance? How did I try to deal with the challenge? What have I learned about wisdom from my experiences, and what insights does this reading give?             

Psalm 63: “My soul thirsts for you, O Lord my God.”

Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4.13-18

The Thessalonians thought Christ’s final coming might be during their lifetime. What is my understanding of life after death and Christ’s final coming? How does this affect my way of life and my attitude to death? What words of encouragement can I share with people weighed down by a culture of death?   

 “Alleluia! Keep awake and be ready: you do not know when the Son of Man is coming. Alleluia”

Gospel: Matthew 25.1-13

In everyday practical matters what kind of bridesmaid am I? How does that compare to my attention to the spiritual life and preparation for the Lord’s coming? How will I make sure to have enough oil for my lamp for when the Bridegroom comes?

PARISH NEWS

Installation Mass: for our Pastor, Father Minh Doan will be celebated on December 31 at 11:30AM by the Archbishop Michael Miller , followed by a reception at the school gym. All are welcome.

*Second collection: for Building Fund.

*Priests Study week: from November 13 to 17, Masses will be celebrated as usual except that there is no school Mass at 9am on Friday, November 17.

*Project Advance Campaign 2023: the parish has raised $59,955.00. Thank you for your generosity and ongoing financial support to the parish set goal of $80,000.

*A Special Vietnamese Mass for all the souls at Gardens of Gethsemani, Surrey: on Saturday November 18 at 11AM. The bus will depart at 9:30am so please arrive at the church at 9am.

*Altar Server’s Meeting: All current altar servers are invited to attend the meeting on Saturday November 25 from 12pm to 2pm. Parents with children who have already received their First Holy Communion, are encouraged to bring their children to this workshop to see if their children are interested in becoming altar servers.

*“Simbang Gabi”, a traditional Filipino 9-day Mass to celebrate the Christmas Season, will take place in our Parish from December 15-23.  All are welcome to attend.  Coordinators of this event are looking for sponsors for each Mass.  Please speak with Cathy, Noel or any PPC member if you are interested or would like more information.

*The Parish Office will be closed on Monday November 13th in observance of Remembrance Day.  8AM Mass will be celebrated as per the regular schedule.
