Who do I listen to, to hear the voice of God? How can I tell if the message is authentic, complete and unembellished by the Prophet’s additions? What messages am I finding most challenging to heed? Why?

What concerns preoccupy my thoughts? When do I engage in “the affairs of the Lord”? What overlap is there between my involvement with “affairs of the Lord” and my concerns for worldly affairs and my significant others? What adjustments in my priorities will provide for my responsibilities and “promote good order and unhindered devotion to the Lord”?

PARISH NEWS
*Parish Group Leader Meeting: a meeting for all parish group leaders will be held on Tuesday, February 13 at 7:00pm in the church basement. All ministry leaders are invited. If you cannot make it, please designate a representative for your group/ministry.
*Altar Server’s Meeting: All current altar servers are invited to attend the meeting on Saturday Feb. 03 from 12pm to 1:30pm. Parents with children who have already received their First Holy Communion, are encouraged to bring their children to this workshop to see if their children are interested in becoming altar servers.
*The Feast Day of our Lord’s Presentation in the Temple on Friday February 2nd, is also known as Candlemass. English Mass will be celebrated at 9am with candle blessings before Mass. Bring your candles for blessing
*Vietnamese Lunar New Year Mass on Saturday February 10: will be celebrated at 10:30am, followed by the Fair at St. Joseph’s school. There will be lion dance, music, food sale and game booths. All are welcome.
*Sunday, February 11 is the World Day of the Sick. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be given after all Sunday Masses; 8am, 11:30am and 6pm.
*Ash Wednesday on February 14, English Masses will be celebrated at 8am, 9am with the students of our school, and at 7pm.
*Fast & Abstinence: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.
Fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards. (From United States Conference of Catholic Bishops)
*Food hamper program: Our next monthly food hamper will be available on Thursday Feb.08 from 5 and 7pm at St. Mark's Church basement for those who have registered. New families please call the parish office to register or for more information.
* Father Joseph Liem Pham, OP has been reassigned by the Vicar- Provincial Prior and affirmed by His Grace, Archbishop Miller, to return to Vietnam. Our Parish will say farewell to him at 9:30AM Mass on Sunday February 18. There will be light refreshments in the basement after Mass.
