First Reading: Deuteronomy 18.15-20

Who do I listen to, to hear the voice of God? How can I tell if the message is authentic, complete and unembellished by the Prophet’s additions? What messages am I finding most challenging to heed? Why?

Psalm 95: “O that today you would listen to the voice of the Lord. Do not harden your hearts!”

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 7.32-35

What concerns preoccupy my thoughts? When do I engage in “the affairs of the Lord”? What overlap is there between my involvement with “affairs of the Lord” and my concerns for worldly affairs and my significant others? What adjustments in my priorities will provide for my responsibilities and “promote good order and unhindered devotion to the Lord”?

“Alleluia! The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light has dawned.” Alleluia.”

Gospel : Mark 1.21-28

How do sinful tendencies or laziness affect my attentiveness to God’s teaching through the Church or spiritual practices? When was I stirred in spirit at God’s authoritative teaching? What immediate and longterm effects did that have on my life? What kind of wake-up call do I need now?
