12/05 Sunday: ASCENSION OF THE LORD [1] Acts 1.1-11 [2] Ephesians 1.17-23 or Ephesians 4.1-13 [Gospel] Mark 16.15-20

“Proclaim a joyful sound and let it be heard; proclaim to the ends of the earth: The Lord has freed his people, alleluia.”

First Reading: Acts 10.25-26, 34-35, 44-48

“I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” The Holy Spirit transformed Peter’s concept of God’s people and the Church. Who do I have trouble considering as God’s family? What has the Holy Spirit taught me about the scope of God’s loving plan?

Psalm 98: “The Lord has revealed his victory in the sight of the nations.”

Second Reading: 1 John 4.7-10

How have I experienced God’s love in my life? Which experiences were most precious? How do I share God’s love with others in gratitude?

“Alleluia! Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them.” Alleluia.”

Gospel: John 15.9-17

Jesus calls us to complete love, that our joy may be complete. How have love and joy been linked, or disconnected, in my life journey? As Jesus’ beloved friend, how might I draw closer to him? What fruits of love might he have chosen me to bear?
