REFLECTION ON THE READINGS

RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

“The Lord is truly risen, alleluia. To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity, alleluia, alleluia!”

1. First Reading Acts 10.34a, 37-43

Peter tells the people about Jesus from his personal experience and what they know, and he ties in the testimony of the Prophets. How do I tell people about Jesus and witness to my relationship with him?

Psalm 118: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”

2. Second Reading - Colossians 3.1-4

What old yeast do I still have to clean out, to be fully able to celebrate this Easter? How should I set my mind during this Easter season, to reveal Christ, my life?

“Alleluia! Christ, our Paschal Lamb, has been sacrificed; let us feast with joy in the Lord.

3. Gospel Reading - John 20.1-18

Easter Sunday… the tomb is open and Jesus is not there! If I were among the disciples on that day, what would I have been feeling? The confidence of John, that Jesus must rise form the dead? The anguished love of Mary Magdalen? The disillusionment of the disciples who left for Emmaus? How would I have responded to his unexpected appearances - to Mary in the garden, or the apostles on the road? How am I renewed through my encounters with Jesus: through others, in prayer, through Scripture and in the Eucharist?
