“O God, who on this day revealed your Only Begotten Son to the nations by the guidance of a star, grant in your mercy that we, who know you already by faith, may be brought to behold the beauty of your sublime glory.”

First Reading: Isaiah 60.1-6

When has the glory of the Lord been apparent in me or my community of faith? How did the transition from darkness to light occur? What signs show the ongoing presence of the Lord?

Psalm 72: “Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.”

Second Reading: Ephesians 3.2-3a, 5-6The revelation that, through Christ, Gentiles were heirs to God’s promise of salvation, was a radical departure from Jewish understanding for St. Paul and the apostles. What implications does this awesome gift of God have for my everyday life?

“Alleluia! We observed his star at its rising and have come to pay homage to the Lord. Alleluia.”

Matthew 2.1-12

The wise men travelled far, trusting the star, whereas Herod stayed home, disturbed by the prophetic message. How has my response to the Holy Spirit varied at different times in my faith journey? What gifts have I offered to the King? What road am I on now?
